They live in their own world...

I was wondering if it is correct translate this "they live in their own world", to "viven en su propio mundo". OR is there another way a 'special' saying in Spanish that means the same thing.

Thanks SO very much!!!! wink

I am writing about children with mental retardation and trying to write in Spanish that autistic children often seem to live "in their own world". But not in a making fun of them or jokingly manner.

I don't know if there's a special way, but that sounds right. You could also say "Viven en un mundo de fantasía" or about a million other things to express that.

If you mean that they are self involved, only thinking of themselves and "living in their own little world" without being aware of their surroundings, you can use "ensimismados". "Viven ensimismados".
