Please help with the translation of Quero Sim.

I believe Quero means querer = to want, but sim does not translate well, and I don't know what they mean together.

Maybe this is Portuguese. It is hard for me to tell. - MarkLeeMorff, Jan 10, 2011

This is portuguese.

Sim means "yes."

Quero, as you surmised, means want, more specifically "I want."

Online translators have this as "Yes, I want." Which to me in English it would sound better to say "I do want this."

Thank you Fredbong! - MarkLeeMorff, Jan 10, 2011
You're welcome. I've made similar mistakes in the past. Once I was on a website with what I thought was Spanish until I came across the word você. The two languages are very similar. - Fredbong, Jan 10, 2011

It's Portuguese.

It means "Yes, please" or "Yes, I do" and would be said in answer to a question such as "Do you want some fruit?" or "Do you want to go to the concert tomorrow?" (Você quer fruta?/Você quer ir ao show amanhã?) Notice that the questions contain the verb "querer" and that the short answer mirrors the verb in the question.

In the song, she is asking her lover to "Say yes" (Diga sim) in the last line of the song. The whole song is essentially a plea to get back together with her lover. The song also contains the line, "Yes, I want you, without suffering." (Eu te quero sim, sem dor), which is the answer she's hoping for. So the song itself is the question, and the reply she wants is Quero Sim.
