Imagine your in group of people and someone says something but you don´t hear exactly what the person says. You want to ask your friend what he has just said would I used:

¿Qué ha dicho?

Now imagine your friend has been to seen the doctor last week and you want asked what he said? Would I use:

¿Qué dijo?

Struggling to tell them apart...but I am guessing her it depends on the time frame? (I have read the information on the site in the reference section. He leído la information.)

Hi sara, welcome to the forumgrin

Not really, sara, in Spain the present perfect is used all the time, whereas in Latin American countries, past simple is used all the time.

I consider this tense regional, here in Madrid we would use present perfect in both situations.

however, even in Spain there are differences, I think Cogumela, who is from Galicia, can confirm, they would probably use past simple for both situations.
