Your wife is having an affair

Su esposa tiene una aventura. Is that the best way? So aventura means adventure and affair. Voy a tener una aventura, if I said that to my wife, she would assume an adventure, then if I had an affair that day, I wouldn't have lied? Gracias.

I think tener una aventura is just an elegant way to say she´s cheating on him. It´s an euphemism. Not to take it literally.

But vivir una aventura would be better to imply an adventurous experience.

Maybe this thread will help on aventura as affair

SO "tener una aventura" is mor elikely - have an affair, but Vivir una aventura is more likely , have an adventure? If tener aventura assume affair, and vivir aventura assume have an adventure? Gracias. - jeezzle, Jan 5, 2011

Jeez I listen to a Mexican radio talk show special that deals with cheating partners. They constantly say "poner los cuernos" .

Como...hace 5 meses mi esposa me puso el cuerno.

        ¿Jolie puso los cuernos?

Get this.... here is an ad for a product called "Check Mate".

El Original CheckMate Semen Test Kit es una manera rápida y fácil de descubrir si tu novio te está poniendo los cuernos, ya que detecta las huellas invisibles de esperma que pudo haber dejado en la ropa interior después de mantener relaciones sexuales.

Check Mate

"Ponerle cuernos" is a slang term used in many situations. It means "To get the best of someone," so in this show they are probably just using it to avoid using the real terminology - 005faa61, Jan 5, 2011
Makes sense, thanks for the clarification Julian. - MattM, Jan 6, 2011

¡Qué terrible Jeezle! I think you better make yourself clearer, how about

  1. aventura amorosa
  2. aventura extramarital
  3. tener un amante
  4. tener relaciones
  5. or un affaire

Or - just plain "su esposa le pone cuernos".

This is a little more risque, but is commonly used and understood. It's more "she is cheating on him".
