Well, I am going to take a S.W.A.G. at this:

Long ago and far away, when i was sent to México on my first project with my dictionary in my hand an not much else. I heard so many words pronounced with ''b''that I could not find in my little red book. I soon discovered this:

Ven, verdad, veinte and others. As I slowly, very slowly, learned how to listen, I found that in many words the ''v'' is softened to sound very similar to ''b''. The pronunciation is a bit challenging for a gringo at first, but you soon will learn to recognize and to soften that ''v''sound where appropriate.

Note: I have been having entirely too much fun in this forum and in doing so,have been neglecting my lessons. Back to work Paco and to the rest of us newbies!
