I thought it might be refering to the action of a swimmer in training for a type of stroke (butterfly, I believe).

** Botar la cabeza fue todo lo que le oi decir** I am bringing this forward hoping to get some more ideas - I am not familiar with that book but I believe it is about dictatorships (?) and therefore quite violent? So I am not sure but to me it says something like 'throw out (dispose of) the head, that's all I heard him say. I'm sure you know that 'botar' is used for garbage etc.

does it mean "to shake one's head"? as in I'm shaking my head to mean no... For a little more context, this is the part of the novel where the doctor has visited with Senor Presidente and is back home explaining the visit to his wife. - matthias5, Jan 5, 2011
