It means to withdraw, pull back, move back or away, and the above.

"Necesito hacer un retiro de dinero del banco".

"Me retiro temprano de la fiesta porque tengo que estudiar"

"Mi abuela vive en una casa de retiro"

Click on the word and you will see "retirement."

Although, in the case of Madrid's amazing central park, El Retiro, it's whole name is relevant: El Parque del Buen Retiro. This means The Park of the Good Retirement, or more clearly for us English speakers, The Park of the Good Rest.

I cannot figure out your sentence, though.
