''Toco la guitarra muy bien'' = ''I play the guitar very good''

That should be,

''Toco la guitarra muy bien'' = ''I play the guitar very well''

And thus, we see the biggest difference:

bien = well (adverb)

bueno = good (adjective)

Very good, very well. It translates the same, here it'd translate to mean both, it's a matter of where you live. - soytommy, Jan 1, 2011
As in, some people would use ''good'' instead of ''well''. Here its common. - soytommy, Jan 1, 2011
Sorry, I disagree. "I play good" is grammatically wrong. Good is principally an adjective, which modifies nouns, not verbs like "Play" - pesta, Jan 1, 2011
Thank you Pesta! The same rule in Spanish should apply in English - but many native English speakers don't speak English very well. - lkelly, Jan 1, 2011

Ok, so bien is an adverb, so it describes how someone does something.

''Toco la guitarra muy bien'' = ''I play the guitar very good''

In this case you are saying that you do an action good. The playing of the guitar so you'd use ''bien''. An adverb.

''Buena comida, buenas noches, buenas vistas'' = ''Good food, good night, good views''

Here its describing a noun, and object. Its an adjective. So you'd use Bueno/a.

Easy peasy. smile

Exactly, bien modifies verbs: "Me siento bien"... "la comida de ese lugar es muy buena" - veroz, Jan 2, 2011
