How to use "sin embargo" appropriately in a phrase?

I am always a little confused and want to use it like so:
"Sin embargo, todos saben que el es lo mejor candidato."
But perhaps this would be the correct:
"Carlos y Juan son buen candidatos. Sin embargo, Juan tiene mas experiencia."
I will appreciate any help. Thank you and Happy New Year!

Hi and welcome to the forum.
"Sin embargo" is used very much the same as "nevertheless" in English:
She hasn't treated me well, nevertheless, I am in love with her.
No me trató bien, sin embargo, estoy enamorado de ella.
