Can you imagine a world where to speak a few words aloud is a harrowing ordeal? Well this is the world of George "Bertie" - second-in-line to the throne of Great Britain in 1925 - a shy man with a terrible stutter. Thanks to the recent invention of radio this shy man must address millions of people around the globe.

After trying conventional therapies, his wife, Elizabeth, seeks the help of Lionel Logue, a controversial and eccentric Australian speech therapist.

These men are worlds apart. However, over time a bond is formed and a firm friendship develops. This movie is about this wonderful friendship.

I believe the two leading roles are played flawlessly. Colin Firth as "Bertie" (King George) and Geoffrey Rush as Lionel Logue. Other outstanding performances in this movie are Helena Bonham-Carter as Elizabeth and Guy Pearce as King Edward VIII

Friends, I know my first (Spanish) movie review will be full of errors, but I am relying on there being a dunce corner amnesty at present. Please correct my Spanish and, of course, do your own review - I'd love to hear your opinions...

You did brilliantly Annie, you are a "legend" And the film as you rightly say is a little ripper and should be viewed by one and all. Geoffrey Rush is a local boy and a genius . - ray76, Dec 31, 2010

I keep hearing how good this movie is but I still haven't seen it.

Glad it's good! Another movie on my long overdue list then. I had no idea Guy Pearce was in it...

- nonombre, Dec 31, 2010

To add to what Annie has been mentioning , I happen to know that" Australian

Speech Therapists " are a sought after commodity from outside of the country ,

and can command quite a good remuneration in the USA and UK.

I cannot imagine there would be any demand for Aussie therapists here in Canada. We already speak the most perfect English on the planet. (Grin) ¡Not! - Moe, Dec 31, 2010

I can't correct your Spanish but I was thrilled to be able to read it with just a little help from the dictionary. Thank you!
