New People "Please"
If I see another "What does this mean", or "Translate this", I'm going to put an ice pick through my ear. We love having you new people to the forum, but please read the rules. We have a wonderful translation service and dictionary here so please use them before a "What does this mean post" Lets all have fun. With well thought out questions we all will benefit. I agree with you....I think though, that if they've shown that they've actually tried to find the meanings themselves and the language is slightly more complex, we should be able to help them. I know how frustrating it is to encounter these types of posts, in some cases people haven't bothered themselves...and that's what frustrates me. However, I've also been on the receiving end on some replies, asking for meanings so I know how it feels..........
This forum is full of kind, respectful and well mannered people. We would really like to keep it that way. Everyone is welcome, but this is not a translation service. Also, please and thank you, go a long way.
To all of us, new and old: I am a new member here. And I am certain I will ask the same question (translate this) sooner or later, when I have run out of possibilities. I do agree that a "rules list'' should exist for the purposes of learning to use all the resources available here,and on the net before coming to the forum (us) for translation. We have all found that many things we search for are simply local usage or colloquialisms and do not exist in a database accessible to us. My thought on this issue is that new members must not look to the forum as a translation service, but neither should we reject requests (even silly) sometimes, to enrich and increase the knowledge of us all. Respectfully submitted!
Please reserve such questions for something complex or specialized.
