meter fichas
I once heard this phrase "meter fichas". While its actual translation is "insert coins", it has some other meaning. To love someone or to ask someone to go out or something. I don't remember quite well. Does anyone know what this means? And is it appropriate for daily use? Thanks

"Meter fichas" means flirting. It is used metaphorically where the "fichas" are credits as you insert them (metiendo) in a (slot) machine with the hope of winning the "jackpot"- getting lucky with the person the subject is flirting with.
By the way, the rest of the people are wrong.
That is all.
I found this
Y ésto - Meter fichas es invertir (esfuerzo, tiempo) en algo, con la esperanza de que rinda frutos.
insert coins = meter monedas. I think "meter fichas" is something like "insert cards".
