What does "van" mean in "Que van a tomar"?
What does "van" mean in "Que van a tomar"? I know that it means "What do you want to eat / drink", but i dont get the "van" in the sentence.
Doesn't it mean "walking", "going", etc.? Or isn't "van" the third person of the verb "ir"?

What are you all (you guys) going to drink?
ir a + infinitive = to be going to do something (in the near future)
In this case it is 'van a tomar'. 'Van' is the third-person plural of 'ir'.

'Van' also could refer to 'ellos' as well.
What are they going to drink?
Ir-to go:
yo voy a;
Ud. el/ella va a;
tú vas a;
nosotros vamos a;
Uds./ellos van a
We have often been asked this in cafe's, bars and restaurant's in Spain, My Spanish friend explained the way to understand the term is "What are you going to take?" ( "you" being plural ) and this makes sense to me, despite my limited Spanish (or maybe because of my limited Spanish).
