English Sentences....Let's give this a try...Check your spelling

In the spirit of Carlos (thanks again Carlos for your threads) I would like to post sentences for non-native English speakers to correct. Carlos's posts have helped me a great deal and I wanted to give something back to the community, so here goes. Ground Rules:
First, this is for non-native English speakers and you will have to post your answer in English.
Second, there is no "dumb" answer and all answers will be respected and if need be, corrected in a gentle manner by yours truly (or of course any admin that stops by to look).
Third, have fun!!
Sentences to correct:
1. The student over their ax like an ate year old but hes twelve.
2. My seven year old is going threw a faze but will fined herself in her room soon if she keeps this pore behavior up.
3. I prey this thread works out all write.
4. That is a fowl smell.

Voting Lovely!!! - margaretbl, Dec 27, 2010
Thank you for trying lovely, you have a few more things to work out. #2 is almost right, leave off the "s" in year. :) - Jason7R, Dec 27, 2010
May I also comment that in #2 that it is better (but not incorrect) to not separate phrasals (if she "keeps up" this poor behavior). - 0074b507, Dec 27, 2010
I can agree with that as well qfreed. :) - Jason7R, Dec 28, 2010
Shoulkdn't the "seven year old" be hyphenated? - ian-hill, Dec 28, 2010
Ian, I don't think it needs to be hyphenated but I will trust you!! :) - Jason7R, Dec 29, 2010
Oh Y E S it does!! Ian, your 100% correct. :) - Jason7R, Dec 29, 2010

Hi, Jason!

I want to give a try too, thanks for this exercise.

  1. The student over there looks like an eight year old but he is twelve.
  2. My seven year old is going through a phase but will find herself in her room soon if she keeps this poor behaviour up.
  3. I pray this thread works out all right.
  4. That is a foul smell.

Hey chica,
Hope all is well. Numbers 2-4 are great!! wink
1. you changed the word "ax" to "looks". In this case, it changed the meaning of the sentence. (I like how you separated "hes" into "he is" although you could have made it into a contraction (he's) with an apostrophe.

I forgot to say, I will post the correct answers by Wednesday and write new sentences then as well. I want to give everybody a chance that wants one. Lovely, you were the brave soul that went first!! Way to go. smile Hint: the words that need to be changed sound similar but do not have the same spelling. wink
