Use of "ya"

Use of "ya"

Ya is one of those Spanish words that I've yet to master because it can have many meanings depending on context. I was wondering if one of you excellent Spanish experts would be willing to help me with its meaning here:

Espero que estés feliz con estos acontecimientos ya que creo ser parte de esos acontecimientos y que estés feliz de que yo sea parte de ellos.

My translation is:

I hope that you are happy with these events because I believe I am part of these events and I hope that you are happy that I am a part of them.

Would "because" be a good approximation here?

Thanks for your help!

It seems reasonable.

ya que.

1. loc. conjunt. Una vez que, aunque, dado que. Ya que tu desgracia no tiene remedio, llévala con paciencia.

2. loc. conjunt. Porque, puesto que. Ya que lo sabes, dímelo.

"since/because I believe". I think because and since (ya que) are synonymous here.
