A Christmas Present to all on SD
Since we are sharing Christmas songs today, I would like to share a song from a man who was a friend of ours, Harry Chapin. He wrote magnificent story songs, and this is one of them. Since "O Holy Night" plays a role in this, I'd love to share this wonderful story with you.
In addition to being a marvelous singer-songwriter, Harry was also a humanitarian. Half of the concerts he gave were to support the cause closet to his heart....ending world hunger. He gave away far more money than he ever kept. He traveled alone during these charity concerts and relied on a fan in whatever city he was in to supply his back-up vocals. I'm honored to say that many times when he was in the Chicago area that that person was me.
He's been gone almost 30 years. This was recorded just a few months before he died. I hope you love the story of Mr. Tanner.

Thanks so much for sharing this.
If someone would like to visit the website his family has made in his memory:
Echoline, My very dear friend ,I never fail to be amazed to realise that we live in a
very "closed world ' of our own making , we think that the world we live in is "this" or
" that' but in reality it is just a figment of our imagination . this post of yours
points out this out to me in spades. I have lived my entire life without ever
hearing ,or even knowing of the esistance of Harry Chapin, and now through you
I find that he was a fine musician, a writer of many great songs and a very talented
entertainer. Thank you so much for enriching my life by introducing me to this
great and talented man, my tiny world has now expanded exponecialy .
thank you dear friend.
