Please correct my English and Spanish - Vaanz, Dec 25, 2010
Terrific Vaanz . Is the photo of you ?? - ray76, Dec 25, 2010
It varies from country to country, but 'colegio' doesn't usually mean 'college', but school. In Spain at least you would say 'mi etapa universitaria' or 'mis días como estudiante universitaria' - bill1111, Dec 25, 2010
:) No Ray. My College hostel room was not this good . :) - Vaanz, Dec 25, 2010

María y José viajaron de Nazaret a Belén, y tuvieron que buscar albergue en un establo, donde el niño Jesús nació en un pesebre.

Mary and Joseph traveled from Nazareth to Bethlehem, and had to take shelter in a stable, where the baby Jesus was born in a manger.

The noun is spelled 'albergue'. To insert it in this context, you would have to say something like: 'tuvieron que buscar albergue en un establo'. You could use the verb though: 'albergar(se)', ie: 'tuvieron que albergarse en un establo'. - bill1111, Dec 25, 2010

Así que dio a luz a su hijo primogénito. Lo envolvió en pañales y lo acostó en un pesebre, porque no había lugar para ellos en el albergue. Lucas 2:7

And she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in strips of cloth and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. Luke 2:7

I suppose this is correct, although 'usted' in this context seems overkill. I wonder if in Latin America they woud use 'usted' for this kind of impersonal sentences, instead of 'tú' - bill1111, Dec 25, 2010

It's correct from a grammatical point of view, but in Spanish these generic descriptions are made in plural, with definite article: 'Los albergues juveniles son muy baratos' - bill1111, Dec 25, 2010

If you only write 'de la gente -- los albergues', the correct preposition to use is 'de'. Only when you insert a verb in between -like 'vivir', 'cenar', 'pasar la noche', 'comer', etc..- 'en' is the correct one, ie: 'de la gente que cena en los albergues' - bill1111, Dec 25, 2010

Thank you. Very entertaining. Had never heard of them. Funny thing, at the very end of the song, my Farmville turkey gobbled, and it sounded perfect! Surreal.... - Echoline, Dec 25, 2010
