Not the easiest thing to translate it seems. Any suggestions? smile

As in:

The mermaid gave a magnificent tail flip. smile

One suggestion has been - echar un calazo. wink

The whales that arrive to the Bay of Banderas off the states of Nayarit and Jalisco in Mexico give "golpes de cola" or "chapoteos de cola". I am wondering if the same can be said for "una sirena". Somehow I cannot imagine a "golpe de cola" working for a mermaid, but "chapoteo de cola" probably could.

Maybe a web search typing in those key words?

is chapoteo flip or splash? - Kiwi-Girl, Dec 24, 2010
it's "splash". I suppose in that case the emphasis is on the splash that results from the flip. - mountaingirl123, Dec 24, 2010

How about some context? There's a 99% chance I won't know but maybe it will help someone else who can answer.
