How to pronounce V in Spanish

Hola. Could someone tell me how to pronounce the V in Spanish, for example the word "Vivir"? I hear that the V is suppose to sound like B as in Boy. Thanks.

Most of the Spanish-speaking members of our church (Latin America natives) pronounce the "v" almost like a "b". It seems the members from Guatemaula pronounce "v" with a stronger "b" sound.

It was confusing to me at first, since the verb "viver" sounded a lot like "beber", but I've learned to listen better to their enunciation.

For native language speakers, please realize I am listening as a native of the southern United States, so my hearing is not so closely tuned as native Spanish speakers.

Hope that helps!
