  1. Parecer = to appear. The shoes appear to you to be of low quality. You don't appear to the shoes. You are the indirect object, the shoes are the subject, so paracer has to be conjugated to match the shoes, not you.
  2. Actually, they both sound correct to me, but I would say romperse. That could just be me.

Los zapatos son bonitos, pero no me pareceN de buena calidad y pueden romperse fácilmente.

If you started with plural you need to keep plural, "me parecen" is the correct way. Why not "me parezco" because that means "I resamblence" "I'm like" , the sencond answer is yes you could use both, and they would be correct

So, do you mean parecer, is kinda like gusta?? me parecen los libros, me parece el libro? - zhmelissa, Dec 21, 2010
parecer relates to "I think" gusta is the verb, if you like a book you say "me gusta tal libro" if you are not sure but you think you may like it you would say "me parece que me podría gustar" for example - caelus, Dec 21, 2010
Yes, parecer is a gustar-like verb. See this list: http://www.studyspanish.com/lessons/gustar.htm - 0074b507, Dec 21, 2010
So, how many verbs like gustar verb??? Gustar, parecer, apetecer?? - zhmelissa, Dec 21, 2010
Be careful sometimes "parecer" refers to resemblance as "tus hijas se parecen a tí" and does not mean that you like or dislike nothing. - caelus, Dec 21, 2010
and parecer y gustar en este contexto son cosas distintas, (sorry) parecer y gustar are different in this context - caelus, Dec 21, 2010
Being a gustar like verb doesn't not mean that it means "to like". It means that it forms intransitive sentences with indirect objects like gustar does. - 0074b507, Dec 21, 2010
Parecer y gustar , useage is different? I know they have different meantings, but I wana know do they have the same useage?? - zhmelissa, Dec 21, 2010

they seem to me (me parecen que....)

read the with infinitives part of this article

Usually the placement before or attached to the verb infinitive is optional, but:

When an infinitive is used as a noun — such as when it follows a preposition or is used as the subject of a sentence — attachment of the pronoun is required:

That doesn't apply to your sentence, but I just thought that you might like to know it.
