When translating from Spanish to English, the future tense in Spanish has meanings other than what we would consider the future tense in English, whereas voy a. . . is pretty much the same as I'm going to. . .

First of all, the formal future tense is ridiculously regular and very easy to learn.

Secondly, as I learned in Spanish class in Madrid this summer, once you learn it, you don't need to use it. This is because in conversation, everyone uses the "voy a infinitive" form.

This makes the concept of the future tense a complete snap.

But don't worry, they make up for it with the irregularities of the preterite as well as the mysteries of the subjunctive.

Dependerá bastante del contexto , aunque “voy a…” se usa más para indicar que la acción se llevará a cabo inmediatamente.Pero no siempre.

Puede ser que el sujeto vaya a llevar a cabo la acción ahora mismo o en un futuro más o menos lejano:

1-¿Adonde vas? Voy a apagar un fuego. (en este momento ,ahora mismo me dirijo a apagar ese fuego)

2-Voy a estudiar medicina (si lo dice un chico de 13 años,entendemos que no lo va a hacer ahora mismo,sino cuando tenga la edad para ir a la Universidad).

3-Estudiaré medicina cuando vaya a la Universidad(significa exactamente igual que “Voy a estudiar medicina cuando vaya a la Universidad”)

4-Quien apagará el monte cuando este se queme?(aún no ha empezado el fuego y lógicamente nadie irá a apagarlo en este momento).

Yo apagaré ese fuego ( en un hipotético futuro : Si hay un fuego ,yo lo apagaré)

5-Mamá, tranquila que voy a terminar los deberes(puede ser dentro de 20 segundos o dentro de tres horas). 6- Mamá, tranquila que terminaré los deberes ((puede ser dentro de 20 segundos o dentro de tres horas).

7-El Presidente de la nación dijo que él iba a terminar con el hambre en el mundo(se entiende que en el futuro y que no lo logrará en unos meses)

Pero generalmente,el significado de ambas formas verbales es similar. Si yo le digo a alguien: Voy a cocinar una trucha.(y tengo la trucha en la mano,pues la cocinaré en un futuro tan inmediato que es casi presente ). Voy a cocinar una trucha el día de tu cumpleaños ( tu cumpleaños puede ser dentro de varios meses) Cocinaré una trucha(puede que vaya a hacerlo en este momento) Cocinaré una trucha el día de tu cumpleaños ( es decir, dentro de varios meses)

No there are any diffrence between of them, only there are diffrence between the one of them is formal future like a dominaré or future tense and informal future like voy a dormir,or voy+infinitive.
