Lunar Eclipse

Question

Just wondering how many people were actually going to go out of there way to watch the lunar eclipse tonight....

First Full Moon Total Eclipse on Winter Solstice in Almost 400 Years

I have the alarm set for 2:30 AM. I have a good view of the sky from the top of a tower on my place. It's supposed to be partly cloudy. We shall see......!

Ahh, I really want to see it. I made the effort to see the eclipse in...2003? It was incredible, but I'm not sure I want to get out of bed and stand outside in the 15 degree air tonight!

I'll be up...but it's snowing like crazy here so I won't be able to see it. The good news is that this is the shortest day of the year, so little by little the light will be coming back! Good thing, as it's a bit depressing for it to be getting dark when it's 3:30 in the afternoon and it's so darned cold out!

We just got two inches of snow, and it is very cloudy. Maybe I'll see it on television or the internet.

I had a blast watching the eclipse tonight with my family. We laid a tarp out, laid some blankets down on top of that and climbed into our sleeping bags and enjoyed the show. Then, halfway through, we made some hot cocoa to warm everybody up.

The kids were so excited, and my five year old was quite cute as he talked my ear off the entire time, giving me minute by minute updates on the position, appearance and quality of the clouds, the sky, the moon, the stars and whatever else happened to catch his attention. Once the eclipse reached its totality, the kids started dropping off to sleep, one-by-one, until they were all asleep. None of them made it all the way through the entire spectacle, but that's alright because we all had a great time anyway (not to mention that the cloud cover started to get pretty heavy shortly thereafter).

All in all, tonight has been a great night
