Is it "Me voy a dormir." or "Yo ir a dormir." or "Yo voy a dormir."? If you know, please tell me why which one is right. Thanks!

"I go to sleep."

Unless you are speaking 17th century English, this is not a statement about what you are going to do but, rather, about what you habitually do and, thus, should be followed by something like "at 10:00 on weekdays."

"Me voy a dormir."=I'm going to go to sleep/bed. "Estoy a punto de dormirme."=I'm about to fall asleep/I'm falling asleep.

The first is right, you can also say Yo me voy a dormir but it sounds a bit odd. I usually say Ya me voy a dormir, but if your example is about the time or the place or something like that, the first is right.

Me voy a dormir en la calle. haha Me voy a dormir a las once.

I would say Yo voy a accostarme. it means "I'm going to put myself to sleep." Yo voy a dormir means "I'm going to go sleep" its kinda awkward.

Why "Me voy a dormir?" Couldn't "I go to sleep." be "Yo voy (I go) dormir. (to sleep)"?

I don't understand your question - Dakie, Dec 19, 2010
Why would you say "Me voy a dormir." for "I go to sleep." when you can say "Yo voy dormir." which means "I go to sleep."? - pieman34, Dec 19, 2010
ir + a + infinitive = future. voy A dormir means you are going to sleep. it's the same as english, but you just have to add the 'a'. - oliheylon, Dec 19, 2010

Wouldn't "Voy dormir." be "I go to sleep."? Since Voy means 'I go", and dormir means "to sleep"?

No because when you are going to do something you have o write the letter "a", like: Voy a bañar al perro or Vas a manejar el coche or Van a subir la montaña, It's the rule. - Dakie, Dec 19, 2010
But I don't want to say "I am going to go to sleep." Just "I go to sleep." Think of it like saying I go to sleep at 9pm. "Voy dormir a las nueve de la noche." Would that be correct? - pieman34, Dec 19, 2010
Ehhhhmmmm, no, you have to use the personal pronoun in that of verbs, like, Me voy a bañar, Me voy a cambiar, Me voy a lavar los dientes. - Dakie, Dec 19, 2010
