definition for "intempestivamente."

This word is used in a driving manual for an Ecuadorian driver's licence. It is used in the following context: "......estar atentos por personas que pueden cruzar la calzado intempestivamente". I would think it means impulsively or suddenly or without warning but these definitions do not show up in the dictionary.

It means inconveniently, untimely, unsuitably--unexpectedly is probably a good translation in this case.

Having seen how people drive here, I don't know why you would want an Ecuadorian driver's license. wink

It shows up in the dictionary on this site, and also in the dictionary on the RAE website. It means exactly that: suddenly, without warning.
