Disappearing comments

Question

I went back in less than one minute to change a comment I had made and it was gone. Please tell me what happened.

Actually, probably you are using all caps.

The comments will not accept "caps".

I had one that "disappeared" today, too. I saw it posted in the comments, but later it was gone and I had not gotten flagged. Today is the first time that it ever happened, so I'm not too stressed about it. But it is a mystery.

I have made comments and had them disappear, or so I thought. Then I figured I just didn't click the "add comment" right. I've also made comments and edited them by deleting and rewriting. This causes issues for those watching the comment because even if it is deleted it gets registered and sent to your email.

If you are talking about 'comments', then reason is probably because you didn't click exactly inside the green box (add comment). If you click just a couple pixels outside the box, you cancel the comment.

Sabor, oftentimes I have posted a comment and got an error and didn't notice the big red error box and just keep clicking buttons until I felt like it was submitted not realizing I never really submitted it. (Sometimes just having a word in all caps can cause an error...not always, just sometimes...gotta love random code).

Other reason is if your comment was flagged and deleted. You would notice a flag in your reputation stream (as it deducts reputation).

Another reason is if there was some glitch in submitting the comment to the server. That is, it appeared delivered on your end, but never really reached the server.

Other than that, no lo sé.

I remember writing the best comment ever. No one will write a comment like that again. I could have won the Nobel prize on comments but, unfortunately, it disappeared as soon as I woke up.

I have noticed the same. Some of my later comments have also disappeared and I didn't delete them.

No capital letters in them. I clicked "add comment" and I saw them well added. After that, they disappeared. - cogumela, Dec 19, 2010

Hmmm, so we are talking comments, right? Not posts? I have not seen this happen, the comments have not been deleted. So I don't know.
