Dunce corner

Fellow SD family members,

I have a few of questions about the dunce corner, as this is my first time in it...

1) can I come out of it long enough to still come to the chat on Saturday?

2) can I leave it long enough to take my dog out? She has to go to the bathroom.

3) how long do I have to stay here?

p.s. I did NOT use a subject pronoun, so my offense was not a capital one. grin

I am a permanent resident of the dunce corner, I never leave. Potty breaks are permitted for you, and for your dog. - amykay, Dec 17, 2010

There is a nice bathroom there, and there is usually a lot of good food that people bring when they get sent in, so you should be ok.

Special dispensation may be made to walk the dogs, I suppose, and we can furnish you with a microphone so that yo can participate on the chat. grin

By the way, congratulations! Being sent to the Dunce Corner means that you have become a full-fledged, integral member of the Forum, deserving of all the rights and responsibilities that go with the membership! wink

Cathy said:

Matt..... I would get the Innocence Project or Amnesty International to work out a pardon for you.

As you all probably know, I am the official SD Attorney Administrator. I took a look at Matt's case, because it is famous all across SD by now, and I can't really make a case for his release any time soon. He should be granted parole by Heidi in...hmmm..let's say...about 6 months, and that depends on his ability to refrain from using subject pronouns in all situations.

As for Cathy. Well, she's Intermediate and misused "gustar," a rather difficult verb. I will take up her case with Heidi and Eddy and see what I can do. In the meantime Cathy, you have plenty of company so make yourself comfortable.

Finally, I have a confession to make. I myself, yes ladies and gentlemen, was sent to the Executive DC yesterday by the boss. This is sort of like Federal Prison instead of the State Jail. We have better magazines that aren't so out-of-date and we get the Wall Street Journal.

My error, you ask? I said "Va a ser 10 años" when referring to a child's age (correct = va a tener 10 años). Ouch!!!!!

So, now I'm a Jailhouse lawyer working on my fellow inmate's cases. Have patience, my friends!

Seis meses...¿Qué tal de un convenio de declaración? Si no, mi única otra opción es enajenación temporal. Para mí, no hay problema. - MattM, Dec 18, 2010

Don't worry my equestrian loving friend. I recieved a life sentence this week for using four...count them, four subject pronouns in a translation exercise.

Mira aquí.

DC 4 Life

Thank you very much Sr. Gekko for that little "Yo creo que yo voy" comment on this thread. I also receive an electrical shock every time an SP is used on this site. And Echo thinks her dog has to pee.

Dear Echoline , In my time I have been a permanent resident in the dunce corner,

the offences have been wide ranging and sometimes of a capital nature,or so

it would appear by the length of my incarceration. My advice to you would be to

ignore convention ,carry a backpack fill it with chomps and a reasonable quaffing

wine, it is also a good idea to smuggle in a friend , I often did , we had good sport.

Here we are in one of our more playful moods , Good luck .PS A horse would be

streching it I am afraid .

catherine, we practised that on the chat: dunce corner it is for you!!! no escape! - Heidita

- Gekkosan, Dec 17, 2010
Oh my gosh, G! Are you trying to get yourself put in the dunce corner with me? I'm the only one here right now. I'll let you play with my puppy dog. :-) - Echoline, Dec 17, 2010

In days of yore a slight mistake was treated with great mirth and ¿Qué hora es?

How I quivered and shook every Saturday morning on the chat when we were

asked questions in Spanish and had to respond in said language ,it took me

many weeks to get beyond "sí y no", but swallowing our pride soldiered on.

I still love being on SD with all the friendly intelligent members , please do not

let us lose our camaraderie and happy spirit of adventure as well as

our joy in working together

Mucho amor para todos los spanishdictaholics.

Wow, Matt. Four subject pronouns....now THAT'S impressive!!! All I did is botch a "gustar". I bow to you. I didn't see you when I first got here...you must have been in the bathroom. I hope you are not allergic to my dogs or pony. While we're in here, I'll teach you to ride, if you want. Gekko should be getting here pretty soon. I wonder if we are allowed to have visitors. I know that Gil will be coming by to squeeze food through this little slit in the door as well as a pitchfork so that I can clean Fido's stall (because if he doesn't, we'll be in deep stuff in no time!)

Personally, I would get the Innocence Project or Amnesty International to work out a pardon for you. Considering the fact that you had the guts to take on Pepe in the dreaded SUBJUNCTIVE you should be forgiven for a myriad of sins...even the mortal SP sin.

I never thought that I would miss being in the Dunce Corner with my wonderful friends, but it has happened. Ray and Ian, I wish you the very very Merriest of Christmases and the most wonderful and mirth filled New Year. I plan on fleeing to Costa Rica for 3 weeks in January to escape not only the Dunce Corner but also the horrid Chicago winter.
