Desahogarse con una amiga es, a menudo, más terapéutica que una visita al una terapeuta.

To pour out your troubles to a friend is often more therapeutic than a visit to a therapist.

Please correct my español.

'desahogándome' ;) Hi, simpe! - cogumela, Dec 16, 2010
Hm.. rather than 'being very angry', 'desahogarse' means getting rid of all the accumulated anger, either in a positive way (by cooling off, talking, etc..) or by finally exploding and going berserk :) - bill1111, Dec 16, 2010

All those meanings mentioned above are related to humans, not to things I'm afraid. When you are literally talking about a water deposit venting steam or hot water, you use the expression 'soltar vapor' or 'aliviar la presión acumulada', etc.. - bill1111, Dec 16, 2010
I thought desahogarse probably only applids to humans so I added the second to make a little play on words. Gracias, Billstpor. - Leatha, Dec 16, 2010
I think it's probably okay, as in Englsih, to attribute human characteristics to 'thing's, isn't it Bill? So a vote from me for that part. :) - galsally, Dec 17, 2010

The word order is uncommon, and the first part is too literal, it doesn't work. Also when you are referring to yourself, you need to modify the suffix: 'desahogarme'. - bill1111, Dec 16, 2010
'Cuando necesito desahogarme, hago caminatas' - bill1111, Dec 16, 2010
Thanks! I had the sentence in this order first, but I changed it to sound more direct in English. - 0066c384, Dec 16, 2010
Yes, but that's the deal.. they're two different languages, so have to treat them independently, including the word order ;-) - bill1111, Dec 16, 2010

Yo me desahogo a través de mis actualizaciones en facebook.

¿Se puede usar a través en este caso?

updated Dec 16, 2010
posted by jaimetayag
Yes, 'a través' is alright in this particular case.. but it isn't as flexible as 'con'. Since it would be impossible to describe all the cases where 'a través de' sounds ok, as a rule of thumb you should use 'con', unless you are very sure. - bill1111, Dec 16, 2010
