In Spanish, ll is pronounced the same as the y in the English words you, young, etc.

I think maybe one of the commom mistakes of Spanish speakers learning English is precisely that they attemp to pronounce "you", "young"; and "yellow" the same way they pronounce "ll", actually. - Gekkosan, Dec 15, 2010
Good point. However, the person who asked the question speaks English as a first language. - Sabor, Dec 15, 2010
That is to stay, she is starting from scratch with ll, she has always pronounced English y correctly. - Sabor, Dec 15, 2010

In all situations. It's a matter where the pronunciation is used this way. In Northern Spain, LL is "elye" In southern Spain and the Americas, it is "eye."

also, in colombia, they pronounce it almost like an english "j".

in argentina, they pronounce it like a hungarian "zs". (similar to the "sh" sound, just a bit harder, if that makes sense.)

its interesting to know the differences in pronunciation and vocab by region. imo hehe raspberry

I happen to know a few Hungarians, and have been exposed to that difficult language, but I wonder how many more people in the forum are clear about the way Hungarians pronounce "zs", or anything else for that matter! :-) - Gekkosan, Dec 15, 2010
yah its not a very well known refernece, but it was the only thing that I could think of. - freshtunez, Dec 15, 2010
