all nounes in spanish have to have articles before them

That's not a real rule. They have articles when they serve a purpose, and they don't when the article is not required. The use of the articles in English and Spanish are generally similar, although there are a few cases where the rules are different.

Well, not all spanish nouns require the article before them.

I suspect that all Spanish nouns require an article before them under certain circumstances/constructions and not in/under others. The issue is not the noun but the grammatical construction.

It is quite difficult (almost impossible) to give a definitive list of rules about when and when not to use articles(definite and indefinite) - both in Spanish and English.

Well, not all spanish nouns require the article before them.

The difference between: Nosotros comemos manzanas: We eat apples

y

Nosotros comemos las manzanas: We eat the apples

The second one refers to some specific apples, while the previous is a more general sentence on a type of food you eat. But it's also way more complicated than that, and I still have trouble with it.

hth!
