with its tail on fire?

Hello, I was wondering what the correct way would be to say "like a cat with its tail on fire"? I have "como un gato con la cola en fuego" but I dont think that's correct. is there a better way to say on fire? Muchas gracias!

I don't know that I have ever had the burning-cat's-tail experience in any language, but to say "Me estoy quemando" when out in the hot sun for example is very common - 005faa61, Dec 12, 2010
