So, what exactly is the difference between hermoso and bello? Are the meanings basically the same but used in different contexts, or is there a slight difference in meaning?

Also, I know lindo means pretty and not beautiful, but when would you use lindo and not hermoso/bello? Maybe examples would help...

Hermoso and bello are synonyms and are often used interchangeably. Lindo is, as you say, more like pretty instead of beautiful.
