what is the difference between "el order" and "la order"?

That's an easy one, because "order" is not a Spanish word, so both "el order" and "la order" are plain wrong, and they mean nothing.

However, if you are referring to "el orden" and "la orden", it is "el" for arrangements and states, but "la" for instructions and for members of any group (religious, etc.)
