Can I say as a statement for facebook

"Hay que cortar el céped en el jardín."

and should it be:

"Estoy practicando me español."

"Estoy practicando español."

I am practising my Spanish.

My boyfriend said I shouldn´t use "me" because the Spanish language doesn´t belong to me!

Do you have any Spanish status that you use alot on tweet or facebook. I´m looking for more structural ideas.

I'm not sure, but I think "Hay que cortar..." sounds like "One must cut..." I think I would say, "Tengo que cortar..." (but I could be totally off base...not a native). - webdunce, Dec 11, 2010
I used "hay que" as seen in lesson 1.13 (Chores and basic comands) - saramallorca, Dec 11, 2010
To say "someone should cut the grass" - saramallorca, Dec 11, 2010
Have a vote! Plus, there's a small typo in 'césped'. :) - galsally, Dec 11, 2010
Opps! yes I see the mistake I made ...thanks galsally! - saramallorca, Dec 11, 2010
So you live in Mallorca? You'll have Catalan and/or Mallorquín to contend with as well as castellano eh? - galsally, Dec 11, 2010
pero no puedo hablar idiomas tampoco y todos hablan español. - saramallorca, Dec 11, 2010

Hi Sara,

I think one would say:

'Estoy practicando el español'. Same as if when talking about body parts etc 'mi espalda' is not used, rather 'la espalda' etc.

I suppose if it would be you personally who needs to cut the grass you'd say 'tengo que',

but if you're just stating that the grass needs to be cut, 'hay que' would be correct.

Wait for more responses, I'm not a native or anywhere near. :D
