Try practicing conjugations!!!!! Conjugations are very important. During a test, write down all the conjugations you know so it could help. Also study. Try finding ways of studying. My teacher uses this thing called flip charts. - rchua6767, Sep 9, 2015

My guide on how to revise effectively for language exams

  1. Don’t do it all at once. We only retain a certain amount of what we learn in a single sitting. You are far better off spreading your revision over a week than cramming the night before, especially for a language exam (I don't know what type of exam you're going to be taking as listening is definitely different to reading comprehension, but there you go!!)

  2. Walk the dog (or tortoise, or small sibling, or whatever). Go for short walks whenever you can. The change of scenery will stimulate your imagination and your learning capabilities. Take a sheet of paper with a vocabulary list on it, and you’ll be surprised at how much more you take in just being outside.

  3. Cram it all in – onto one sheet of paper, that is. Try to summarise a module or a topic on a single sheet of paper that you can stick to your wall. Not only will you be reminded of your notes whenever you walk past them, but fitting the material into a set space forces you to mentally organise the information, a massive step towards learning it. Making your notes is 50% of your revision

  4. Use mnemonics (memory techniques)!! For example 'el pared' in Spanish means wall, and I know this word because of remembering the strange phrase, 'he parried against the wall'!!

  5. Get out the colouring pens! Making all of your revision notes in black ballpoint is fatal – buy some cheap felt tips and write different words in different colours. Pictures tell a thousand words, remember, especially if they’re in colour.

  6. Test yourself both ways. Don’t just learn how to recognise Spanish words: practice translating the English into Spanish.

  7. And lastly, but most importantly besides, the seemingly dull phrase, 'practice, practice, practice!', which I am in no doubt has been drilled into the depths of your brain by parents, teachers and the like, find a technique that works best for you. I have listed the various techniques which may prove to be helpful, however everyone learns in different ways....so, please that in mind. And before I sign off, I'd like to simply say......good luck!!

Practice, practice. practice. Make sure to learn your all your rules and vocabulary but the only way to memorize them is to write them out. Trying writing conversations using what you have learned or trying writing compositions. Also, you can put sticky notes on objects all over your house to you can remember there names, example you bed, fridge, bathroom. When you see them frequently and read them when you see them you will remember the. Listening and speaking is hard to practice on your own but try listening to Spanish music. You can also try to write out what they are sining and then look up the lyrics online and see if it matches what you have. alt text
