Hi Nila,

In English, we say it both ways. You can use either "two-thousand ten" or "twenty-ten". Both are used commonly and both are understood.

In Spanish, for the years before 2000, to say the full number would be too long. You would say "mil novecientos ochenta y cinco" for 1985. We would never say "one thousand nine hundred eighty five". It is always shortened to "nineteen-eighty five", etc. smile

Either of these will be understood and are generally acceptable:

2010 = twenty ten, or
2010 = Two thousand and ten.

Or even, "Two thousand ten." - samdie, Dec 10, 2010
When saying or writing out numbers, the British will typically insert an and before the tens and units, as in one hundred and sixty-two or two thousand and three. - Moe, Dec 10, 2010
In America, it is considered correct to drop the and, as in one hundred sixty-two or two thousand three. - Moe, Dec 10, 2010
Canadians tend to follow the British pattern. When in doubt, Canadians follow their Monarch. - Moe, Dec 10, 2010

I should have made this a comment, rather than an answer. My apologies. - danrivera, Dec 10, 2010
You also should've said 'Buena Pregunta' instead. ;) - RommpinCrab, Dec 10, 2010
Okay, thanks! - danrivera, Dec 13, 2010
