I have just found this sentence but I cannot guess the meaning. What is the meaning of "the young detectives go on TV"?

The use of the definite article suggests that we know who the young detectives are.
The rest of the sentence just means that they will be part of a TV show or a movie on television.
Is it the "go on" that you find confusing?
