¿Murió álguien?

Did someone die?

¡Álguien rompió mi lámpara!

Someone broke my lamp!

I think it's weird that those were the first two sentences that came to my mind.

Anyways, for the first one, I used the 3rd person singular preterite of 'Morir' and put 'álguien' after the verb because it was a question. The second, Álguien is the subject so it's in front of the preterite conjugate of 'romper'.

The is no accent mark on alguien. - 0074b507, Dec 8, 2010
You're right... I have literally no idea why I wrote that. :| - RommpinCrab, Dec 8, 2010
The u's role is confusing. It doesn't count. It is only there to maintain the sound of the g. The ie is still a diphthong and the stress is on the "a" naturally. - 0074b507, Dec 8, 2010
Fallecer common in 1st sentence and passive (se) voice in 2nd . (The lamp was broken. That way we don't have to find "alguien" to blame... - 0074b507, Dec 8, 2010
