Is this "pídala para mí"? Gracias. Like "your sister can cook me dinner if she wants, ask her for me". Gracias.

Pídeselo por mí

pide/pida: (you)ask

lo: DC, that she cook me dinner

I would have said: "Pregúntala por mí, por favor"

The 'for' in this sentence is being used in the situation of a substitution, so it would be por. I'm also thinking it would be the verb 'preguntar' instead of 'pedir' because like previously said, pedir is used as 'to ask for' or 'to request'.

It's an inquiry, asking if she would be willing to do something. The question of asking the friend to ask the sister is a request, but the question from the friend to the sister isn't. - RommpinCrab, Dec 8, 2010

pedir=pedir a alguien que haga algo -> to ask somebody to do something

preguntar=to ask a question

There seems to be two different contexts being discussed here.

Ask her to do something...pedir (solicitar)

question (inquire of) her if she would be willing=preguntar

When you use pedir in the subjunctive as in this example, it's not a command but something "I'd like you to do".

Te pido que me llames del aeropuerto.

Preguntale a ella por mi. When you want an answer to a question.
