Besitos Amor

Besitos Amor

Hi All

Can anyone advise the ral meaning of "Besitos Amor"

Of course besitos is kisses, amor is love... is this a "friendly" way of saying "kisses" or is it more the way you speak to someone you are in love with for example?

Strange question, but i often find when two words go together they sometimes mean something in their own right!

Thanks

Hi steve!

Saying "besitos" is just a friendly form to send kisses, or 'little kisses' to someone. I can send besitos to my closest friends, to my family, to my boyfriend... etc. (Out of this group, I use to send "saludos" instead of besos)

But if you add the word love, the thing changes. As a rule, you don't say to your friends "Kisses, my love", "Besos, amor". In my case, (and I'm a pretty friendly Spanish person!) I would only call "amor" or "mi amor" to someone if I'm in love with him, or if I like him a lot, or if I were talking to my little son/daughter. I think I wouldn't say that to anyone else.

As always context is important, I would only say this to someone I was very close too but not neccessarily in a realtionship with but close close friends. The diminuvtive is often used when something is cute, like little kids giving a pec or animals smooching or if you are talking baby talk. In English a girl or woman might say "Love you honey" to a close female friend but you are not saying you are in love with them.

I think it means "little kisses of love". Beso=kiss, besito=little kiss.
