¿De seguidas = in continuation?

Estoy leyendo un artículo en un periódico venezolano sobre las expropiaciones de Hugo Chavez.

I am reading an article in a Venezuelan newspaper about the expropriations by Hugo Chavez.

De seguidas agregó que la intensidad y la velocidad de las expropiaciones por parte del gobierno, en buena medida dependerán del impacto que tengan en la popularidad del Presidente Chávez, quien marcha hacia un proceso de reelección presidencial en 2012, siendo 2011 un año claramente preelectoral.

In continuation (?) he added that the intensity and speed of the expropriations by the govenment, to a large extent, will depend on the impact that they have on the popularity of President Chavez, who is heading towards a presidential reelection process in 2012, 2011 clearly being a pre-election year.

Is that about right?

Supposedly, it is "de seguida", but there is a generalised tendency to make these adverbial expressions in plural:

de seguida.

1. loc. adv. Consecutiva o continuamente, sin interrupción.

2. loc. adv. inmediatamente.

I can only guess what the article really means without reading the whole article, but I'd go for "Afterwards,..."
