Hello, can someone check my translation of alivianar in this context?

Person 2: "No, el camino apenas lo voy a recorrer, creo yo."

Person 1: "porque dices eso?"

Person 2: "Creo que a mi equipo lo quieren alivianar."

I think that my team wants to take it easy.

Thanks!

The sentence is correct with "alivianar", but to answer your question we need more context, and also to know where did you get this from. The translation will be different depending on the country where it is from.

For example, in Puerto Rico, "alivianar" may mean to kill.

Is that why they say "a little knowledge is a dangerous thing"? Quite a contrast in meaning. - 0074b507, Dec 7, 2010

I believe I'd use the reflexive form in that sentence, but I'm a beginner in Spanish.

"Creo que a mi equipo lo quieren alivianarse".

There are several advanced members on this site now. See what they say before you make a final decision.

Hope that helps!
