How and why did you guys join SpanishDict?
I just made my account on SpanishDict today and I'm already loving it!
I've actually been using SpanishDict for a while but only for when I needed a quick translation of a word here and there.
I always saw the little box in the corner telling me what people were doing like earning point and doing activities but I was never interested.
I;m currently working on a Spanish project that's due in two days (it's going well) and I had questions with vocabulary so I decided to join this site. It's really cool and it's actually a big help and I'm definitely going to suggest it to my other friends who are struggling in Spanish or just anyone in general.
So enough about me, tell me about you!...Why did you guys join?

It kind of happened the same way that I found my husband (completely by accident)....and with the same results (I absolutely love it)!
I was simply looking for a definition so I googled it and up popped SpanishDict! and I found the word in the dictionary. I kept the site open because it was on the laptop that I used when watching telenovelas and I had come up with this grand plan to look up all the words that I didn't understand.
Then I saw the free Spanish lessons, and who in their right mind can pass that up? So I did a couple and then I had a question, so I posted it on the forum. I got a nice answer, so I posted another question. I got what I thought was a rude answer, wrote that member of the forum, and ended up making a friend!
Now I'm wringing just about every bit of knowlege that I can from here, but there is way more here than I can possibly absorb. I had absolutely no idea that one little word would lead me to an entire world of new friends....so diverse...so divergent in so many ways...but all united in their desire to master a language or to help those who strive to do so.
I love it here.
I was living in Madrid and I had a horrific first date with a very cute Spanish boy who didn't speak a word of English. Long (hilarious and utterly embarrassing) story short, I needed the translation for "I'm sorry if I weirded you out", which was not in the dictionary (hehe). Needless to say the relationship ended rather quickly, but I stuck with SpanishDict! Must be true love! ![]()
Last year, I was deployed to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. While stationed there, I worked with the Puerto Rican Nat'l Guard. Hanging out with them, I noticed that I could actually understand a lot of what they were saying (it had been 6 years since I had taken a Spanish class, so it came as a total surprise to me just how much I had retained). I understood so much that it actually got to the point that they started to speak REALLY fast if they didn't want me to understand them! My roommate, as well as myself, decided to get back into learning Spanish and she's the one who told me about this website. Between this website and my spanish-speaking friends I have learned more than any "award-winning", break-my-wallet, language-learning software could have possibly taught me.
Same as some of the other people I was using the translator to build up my vocabulary and I have always had a love of learning new languages and one day after using the translator I just happened to notice the learn Spanish thing and I tryed it and was impressed then I posted my first question and was amazed and how educated the people using this site were and very polite and ever since then I am always studying on this site in diffrent ways. This website has greatly helped me improve my Spanish. ![]()
I found this website via another website, which I also find useful - http://www.uni.edu/becker/
I guess my story is similar to most people here. I started back studying Spanish after studying it for 5 years in school and teaching English to little Spanish kids. You know the saying "If you don't use it, you loose it" Well in my case that happened :S After focusing the last couple of my life on academics and becoming an engineer I decided to take a little break and go back to some I love doing that is easy to learn....not a bunch of numbers to crunch, lol. I was using SD an a dictionary and one day I was looking for free Spanish courses or practice exercises and it bought me straight back to SD. Since then I have been hooking and I have made some great friends ![]()
I was looking for a on-line Spanish Dictionary and came across this site. Had a look around and thought it had a lot of useful information. So I joined up.
I looked on line for Spanish lessons and saw the SD pod casts. After looking at one I found the web site. I did a couple of lessons and then joined. I'm really enjoying getting to know other members.
I needed help with Spanish questions,
and a good online dictionary,
so I googled "online spanish dictionary", and this was the first result.
I clicked on, and I liked it from the start.
I was amazed at how fast people answered questions! It's a great site, and I love using it!
