What is "mantenernos"?
A spelling word on my daughter's Spanish homework is "mantenernos". She is supposed to define it. We cannot find it anywhere. We're both wondering if it is a verb form of "mantener"???? Can someone help???? Thank you!!!

Hi and welcome to the forum 
it is mantenerse which means to subsist, to support oneself or to remain. And you could see that form in a sentence like this:
"Ya no podemos mantenernos quietos.. : We can't stay calm anymore.
mantener - to keep
mantenerse - to earn a living
to keep afloat ----> mantenerse a flote
Just so it is clear...it is nos (us) stuck onto the end of the verb mantener. That is to say that mantenernos is actually two words, not one (they're just stuck together...and it is correct to stick them together like that).
I hope that helps a bit. I would have taken it, without other context to mean "to keep us" or "to keep ourselves," but I could be in error about that.
