What do we mean by Ser?

In lesson 1.2, they talk about the verb ser but not once in the video they mention the word ser, so what does ser actually mean?

The word, 'Ser' means 'to be'. There are two different forms of 'to be' in spanish: Estar or Ser.

It is the infinative of the verb to be and as an example of its use in a sentence: Voy a ser periodista. I am going to be a journalist. The infinative is used after a conjugated verb in most cases.
