No tengo un equipo favorito porque no me gustan los deportes. Para mí, son muy aburridos. Lo siento.

Pero ahora me estoy preguntando también si el "and/or" funciona en la misma manera como en inglés. Es decir que me pregunto si "y/o" es la forma más común de decirlo.

Mi equipo favorito es los "Boxers" de la "Pacific University" porque mi hijastro juege en ese equipo.

También me gustan los "Portland Trailblazers" (básquetbol/baloncesta) y "Oregon Ducks" (fútbol americano). A mi hijastra se graduó de la universidad de Oregon y ve todos sus partidos en vivo.

Se olvida que la conjunción o puede expresar en español ambos valores conjuntamente (? o2, 1). Se desaconseja, pues, el uso de esta fórmula, salvo que resulte imprescindible para evitar ambigüedades en contextos muy técnicos.

It is frequent nowadays the use of y/o, copied directly from English to explicitly choose between the sum or the alternative between the two options. People often forget that the conjunction "o" can express in Spanish those two values simultaneously. It is not advised the use of this formula, unless it is indispensable to avoid ambiguities in very technical contexts (i.e. Maths).

In other words, "and/or" and "o" are the same thing, except for a mathematician or a logician, for whom "if" and "only if" are opposite concepts.

Not sure I agree. I kind of like and/or. To me "or" means 1 or the other and doesn't mean both. & "and" only means both. I don't know what the grammatical rule is. I also note that I grew up in a place where people liked to clarify "you all" .... - ronm192, Dec 2, 2010

I do not have a favorite baseball team. I have several NBA basketball teams that I follow on a weekly basis; the Utah Jazz, the Indiana Pacers, and the Sacramento Kings. Since I am from central Illinois, I like to watch the University of Illinois.

Mi equipo favorito es los Piratas de Pittsburgh, porque en 1979 tuve la oportunidad de verlos jugar en la Serie Mundial. Perdieron los tres primeros juegos en Pittsburgh. Ganaron el cuarto partido (la que vi) en Pittsburgh. Entonces llegarón a Baltimore, donde el ganaron los siguientes tres partidos y el banderín.

My favorite team is the Pittsburgh Pirates because in 1979 I had the opportunity to see them play in the World Series. They lost the first three games in Pittsburgh. They won the fourth game (the one I saw) in Pittsburgh. They arrived in Baltimore where they won the next three games and the Pennant.
