From an old spanish dictionary, "Los estadistas de café" = "Armchair strategists" or "sidewalk superintendents".
Google translator says it means "The statesmen of coffee"
Google also translates "Armchair strategists" to "Estrategas de sillón"
Any opinion on what is most common? Or other options?

I've heard of sidewalk superintendents, but only of armchair generals or Monday morning quarterbacks. (armchair quarterbacks). When I hear the word strategist I start conjuring up chess analogies.
