Hi guys,

Earlier today I was chatting with a colombian (girl)friend and she said that she was at an internet cafe because her laptop is broken, and she hopes to buy one by next week. I said jokingly that she should save her money and buy a visa and a plane ticket here and I'd give her my old one (at least that's what I meant to say): "Creo que es mejor que gastes tu dinero en un viaje y visa a los eeuu, y te regalo mi laptop viejo".

She responded by saying: "ahh nooo, no me gusta eso, yo no soy una chica interesada". I didn't know what "una interesada" is, and the dictionary here says that it is someone with a concern in a business; a partner. If that were the case her response wouldn't make any sense though. Does interesado/a have another slang meaning? Or can anyone make any sense of the exchange?

Just wondering. Thanks.

I'm not from Colombia, but in many Latin American countries, a "chica interesada" is a gold-digger or a girl that is after a mans $.

"No soy una chica interesada" means that she doesn't act by ambition, greed, and so on.
