"Are you in pain?"
I am a dentist. I see a lot of patients in pain.

Maybe a forma approach used in other countries would be more adequate here:
¿Le duele?
In Spain they often say:
si le duele levante la mano.
As you can't talk, that is easier![]()
We usually use
¿Tiene dolor? (formal)
or
¿Tienes dolor? (less formal)
Dr, there is a small pocket reference for English-Spanish medical questions and terminology. It is probably available at a book store or Amazon. If you have trouble finding it, please send me a message and I'll try to get the information to you. It is invaluable as a quick reference.

Welcome to the forum. I would have said ¿Tienes dolor?. The translator here is pretty good for phrases like this, but always double-check the answer. It can be pretty silly sometimes.
¿Te duele? or **¿Te está doliendo?
