Hi all,

How would you translate this sentence into Spanish?

"the patient's condition is bad": "el estado del paciente está grave", or "el estado del paciente es or está malo"?

I reread Paralee's explanation about SER and ESTAR, but I wasn't able to decide what would be best in this case ... I think it's "está" here, but I cannot be sure! And I am not sure whether to use "grave" or "malo" either ........

Thanks,

Carole

"Grave" is more formal and more serious (what a doctor would say); "malo" is a bit more informal and not so serious - LoaEtayo, Nov 28, 2010
