Literally, "el perro lleva a la presa". More idiomatic, " lleva una presa" or "se lleva su presa". Wait for Billstpor or Heidi, sanlee. :) - cogumela, Nov 27, 2010
Yeah, either of those work, with different nuances. 'Lleva una presa' means 'carries a pray, whereas 'se lleva su presa' means 'takes the prey away' - bill1111, Nov 27, 2010
Gracias, Cogu y Billstpor - sanlee, Nov 27, 2010

Uhh! What a picture! The sentence, good. - cogumela, Nov 27, 2010
But it sounds a bit to literal translation; wait for more opinions :) - cogumela, Nov 27, 2010
Yes, it's literal, but in this case that's not a problem. - bill1111, Nov 27, 2010
It is awesome, take the tour if you ever go there, it's great. - amykay, Nov 27, 2010

Aún existe la cuestión, ¿quién es el cazador, y quién la presa?

The question still exists, who is the hunter, and who is the prey?

A good catch, but you should have seen the one that got away!

Los celos son un tigre cuya presa no son sólo las lágrimas, sino también un corazón furioso". Very difficult to translate, lovely. :) - cogumela, Nov 27, 2010
Hehe, no. 'tears' is a conjugated form of 'to tear'. 'Los celos son un tigre que desgarra no solo a su presa, sino su propio corazón enfurecido' - bill1111, Nov 27, 2010
Thanks both bill & laura, But bill why is ''enfurecido'' used here ? shouldn't it be ''furioso" ? - 00b6f46c, Nov 27, 2010
Oh, I didn't notice you had written 'furioso' instead. It doesn't matter, they are almost-synonyms (you could say that 'enfurecido' is when you are raging because someone provoked you) - bill1111, Nov 27, 2010

"acecha a" is more correct , Marianne :) - cogumela, Nov 27, 2010
and "sujeto" - cogumela, Nov 27, 2010
This is a bit picky, but after the ellipsis that 'que' ends up being a bit too 'correct'. It's more natural to say 'su presa .. un sujeto guapo y rico'. - bill1111, Nov 27, 2010
Gracias Bill y Cogumela! - --Mariana--, Nov 30, 2010

A falta de la opinión de un nativo, me parece que 'are often caught in a panic' es bastante más común, o simplemente 'often panic'. Eso y también 'when the stock market crashes' - bill1111, Nov 27, 2010
In English we would say "the" before stock market... - amykay, Nov 27, 2010
Díria que tienes razón y soler se puede traducir por ¨usually¨ en el presente. - BellaMargarita, Nov 27, 2010
Gracias a los dos :) - cogumela, Nov 27, 2010
I see Bill's point, but on 'playing the sentence over in my head' I think it's good, it has a very slightly different nuance to say 'caught in a panic', and I like it. Either would be good really. :) - galsally, Nov 27, 2010

A veces la presa termina siendo la que caza...

Sometimes the hunted ends up being the hunter.... ('hunted' means 'prey' here, I just think it has a better overall effect to use 'hunted.')

Good Gal, but "la cazadora" , although it's right... it's not the best choice. I'd go for "el depredador", or "la que caza" - cogumela, Nov 27, 2010

Even though 'mostrar' or 'enseñar' are the most common translations of 'to show', here it means 'to demonstrate', so 'demostrar' or 'probar' are better translations than 'mostrar' - bill1111, Nov 27, 2010

'Official', as a public worker, isn't translated as 'oficial', but 'funcionario' or 'funcionario público'. Here I'd say: 'Unos funcionarios públicos llevaron..' - bill1111, Nov 27, 2010
